Weekend Caravan Breaks – BBQ, Hot Tubs And Beyond

Weekend caravan breaks should be seen as essential pauses for busy people who need to escape from work and the demands of daily life.  Even if you don’t own a caravan, all is not lost – weekend caravan breaks are available across the UK.  Better still, compared to swanky hotel city breaks, you’ll be able to afford the revitalising experience far more often.

And there are plenty more attractions that may surprise you.

1. Weekend BBQ

Weekend caravan breaksSome holiday homes are equipped with private BBQs – a fantastic way to socialise.  You could take it in turns to cook and find out who is the best cook in your group!

In Dumfries and Galloway we have wonderful local producers so you’ll have no problem purchasing amazing quality food to BBQ.

2. Weekend Indulgence

You may be aware that many cottages offer private hot tubs, but did you know that many luxury caravans and lodges do too?  Choose where to have your weekend caravan breaks carefully, and look for holiday homes with outside decking, patio furniture and a private hot tub – there’s nothing quite as relaxing as sitting in the warm water and letting your stresses melt away.

3. Weekend Doggie Fun

Some weekend adventurers plan their short breaks around their furry friends – the 4 legged variety.  Nowadays many holiday parks are dog-friendly and are positioned right on the doorstep of dog-friendly walks on local beaches and countryside.  Check the pet policy of the static caravan that you’re planning to book so you don’t have any unexpected surprises.

4. Weekend Eating Out

When it comes to wining and dining, you might decide that no-one in your party should have to cook during your weekend of relaxation.  Check if your destination is close to a few restaurants so you have various choices to try out during your stay.  At Coastal Kippford we have several restaurants a short drive from the Park that come highly recommended by our guests – Luigi’s in Dalbeattie, Clonyard Hotel in Colvend and The Steamboat Inn in Carsethorn.

5. Weekend Chatting To The LocalsWeekend caravan breaks

Visiting the local village pub can make for a relaxing and entertaining evening – strike up a conversation at the bar and you may find some local characters to chin-wag with over a pint of the local brew.

In Kippford, about a 15 minute walk from the Park, there are two popular family and dog friendly pubs – the Anchor Hotel and The Mariner.

6. Weekend Chef’s Delights

Of course, if you have a keen chef in the family, weekend caravan breaks in a static caravan are ideal: they can whip up meals in the surprisingly spacious kitchen, and the whole group can sit down to eat together in the dining area.  If you’re not sure what kinds of recipes to make in a static caravan, we’ve some suggestions here.

7. Weekend Family Fun

If you want fun-filled family time, weekend caravan breaks are an excellent choice.  The kids just love the outdoors and will quickly burn off their excess energy on the beach or in the countryside, depending on where you stay.  If they like outdoor activities, choose a holiday park close to cycle routes or kid-friendly activity centres.

8. Weekend Exploration

For the intrepid explorers amongst you, read up about historical sites and local towns close to the static caravan park of your choice.  You may be surprised by the number of interesting places in any given geographical area of the UK, and how many you can fit into a weekend away.  Maybe you’ll hike across fields to see ancient monuments; perhaps you’ll visit a museum dedicated to a historical figure; or maybe you’ll opt to visit a castle, a stately home or go on a hunt to view wildlife in its natural habitat.

You can appreciate that there are numerous attractions for booking weekend caravan breaks.  But a primary consideration is how quickly you can reach your destination – you really don’t want to waste time traveling if you only have a couple of days to spend on your well-deserved break.  Try to travel out of peak times – no one wants to get caught up in Friday night traffic at 5pm, nor in the Sunday evening post-weekend return home.  We find our guests love the Friday to Monday short breaks that we offer!

So make your plans, research the caravan holiday parks in reachable distance to you, book it up… and let the weekend begin!
